Quickstart doesn't work

Hi,

Five days ago, I purchased your University Template for Joomla.
Trying to install the Quickstart, I failed.
I tried to attach the message, I receive instead of the installation, but this forum doesn't allow any of the formats, I tried - .txt, .docx, .pdf.
It fails to create the database tables correctly, it seems.

I need a working Quickstart, because I don't have the time to build up the site and template from scratch.
And honestly, I regret to have purchased this template...

Please fix the Quickstart.

There is a big error displayed This means Your database does not support "utf8mb4", please ask Your hosting provider to update it or edit file /installation/sql/mysql/joomla.sql and replace all "utf8mb4" to "utf8", save and install again.

I have exactly the same problem. The error returned is "Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Could not connect to MySQL".

The DB access information is correct (username, password, DB name, host). The site is hosted on a VPS managed by me. On this VPS, I have about 10 other sites running on this VPS with no problems connecting to mysql (mysql, mysqli and pdo-mysql modules are installed and usable).

Please check the installer for errors.

During a connection quickstart is using not changed files of a regular joomla installer and I see not known issues which can return such error other than wrong connection details or database not allowing an outside connection. Please check if everything is ok in this area.

Try install clean joomla from joomla.org, it will reveal if there is a broken file in our package.

So I got the template installed using the following steps:

1) Uploaded the files from quickstart via ftp
2) Created the DB and run the sql files (via phpmyadmin) in installation/sql/mysql/ folder (joomla.sql and sample data.sql
3) Created a new Joomla user on the users table and assigned him to the admin usergroup.
4) Logged in to admin
5) Installed the template through Extensions->Install->From package file

Unfortunately, the required extensions like Image Show GK5 and the Custom HTML Modules were not installed. So I have to rebuild the template from scratch in order to get the same result as the quickstart package.

If I had to guess, I would say that there has been a mixup between the template download files (quickstart and template packages), so I would check the distributed sql files.

Please check this issue, because I have a website due to the end of the month and the client insisted on this template.

General question: Can I expect this Quickstart to be fixed or not?
If not, I have to pull back my order in order to get refunded until Thursday.
I need a working template.
University is the most sophisticated and beautiful, but if it doesn't work, I have to consider an alternative, I'm afraid...

Yes I know - but great effort anyway

My friend, if you run only joomla.sql in the steps I provided, the template works perfectly.
It will take less than 30 minutes to setup like I said.

If you don't know how to do this, find someone with basic hosting knowledge and ask them to do it for you, following the steps I described.

The table created have the prefix #_.
Tried to rename in the koomla.sql file.
But of course, it doesn't work this way...
How do I teach my installation to use the database, the credentials, the tables...?

I have definitely enough with this thing.
If I would charge you the time, I already invested in making a QUICKSTART working, you had to pay me 10 times of what the template costs.

Send me ftp, database and url to the site. I'll install it for You. Just tried on my server and had no problems at all.

A cPanel access would be even better to speed up file transfer.

Thank You for the access. I've tried to install quickstart, but I'm getting message: "Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.10 or higher to run this version of Joomla!", that's most probably why installation could not be done before. Please ask Your hosting provider to rise PHP version on server.

I think after updating PHP You should have no problems to install quickstart. Just select "English (United kingdome)" and than follow instructions. I've tried, but got this message after filling database details:

An error occurred while trying to create the database dbo646221628.
The user may not have enough privileges to create a database. The required database may need to be created separately before you can install Joomla!

which user needs a higher permissions.
