Replacing the home page slider

Hello,
The slider on the home page is taking too much time to load as it loads all the images together. I would like to change the slider to something that would be faster.

If I was to do this, how can I go about replacing the slider on the home page? Please advice.

The University slider is a widget, so please find a slider plugin which allows to add the slider as a widget and replace the original widget.
