error with template update

I am updating all of my website for the new google mobile updates and the test shows that my responsive template has some issues so I am updating everything. I have updated Joomla to the latest version and my extensions I have also updated so everything on my site is totally up to date.
All that was left was to update the Storefront template and that is where I found this problem:

I have tried to update my storefront template to the latest version 3.16 from 3.12. I have downloaded the 3.16 and have installed unzipped via the Joomla extensions directory. I get this error message:
Warning
Copy failed.

JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /home/XXX394/public_html/tmp/install_552cbcac11060/gk_storefront/templateDetails.xml to /home/XXX394/public_html/templates/gk_storefront/templateDetails.xml
Template Install: Could not copy files from the files source.

I have used the update information from this page: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... k-template

The template still shows as 3.12

When I go to the site there have been some minor changes though - some fonts and other small changes I had made.

When I go “Update” tab in template configuration I get a message : Loading update data from GavickPro Update service... and it just does not open.

I am using the latest version of joomla and have the joomla 3 version of Storefront template downloaded.
The site is here : http://goo.gl/Q1lple

I was so sure I had done everything right.

Thanks in anticipation of your help

Hi,
it's problem with server settings,
so please upload new template files via FTP. (unzip before)
It always works.

I have now reinstalled the template, reinstalled image show GK4, no change.

I have also found the the drop down login is also not working, it will allow me to login but it does nothing, as I am not logged in after.

The cart at the top seems to be stuck on loading as is the image show. all else seems to be working fine - just these couple of things that I just cant get right.

If I cant find a solution soon I will have to go back to my old template and upload my old site from back-up.

Please can someone help me with this?

I changed style to gk_startup and it stops the constant loading, and shows half an image and the text. The cart at top right is still constantly loading though. havent tested the login as yet.

Hi

I was asked to join discussion by @redsuzie.

I agree with Oskar that template was not installed because of a server configuration. Most often cause of such problem is that scripts do not have permissions to create files. It's good for security but makes updates difficult since You need to use FTP in some occasions.

For javascript issue with website I would start from removing multiple jQuery library loads. Try install Easy jQuery plugin which will replace all libraries with one You will choose in it's settings (try the option to load a library which came with joomla).

If this will not help send me an access to joomla panel.

Oscar E last message to me was _
Hi,
about slideshow - it's JS conflict - I can find you a alternative solution which will work
but problem is deeper.
that's why you have "loading..." next to Basket icon.

I have to ask GK developer.

He says the problem is deeper - if your solution to load Easy Query should fix it then would he not have advised me to do that?
He has been into my back end and tried to fix it, and upgraded the template to 3.17 the next version up from what I was installing.
I am concerned about messing up further.
I will send the back end access via private message.

I made small test,
In our J3.4 QuickStart with HikaShop Basic - all works withouts problems
I tested also with HikaShop Business 2.4 - also was okey,
it means that something else what you installed (addcional extension) damaged Storefront template.

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
You said
it means that something else what you installed (addcional extension) damaged Storefront template.

All that is on the site was there before the template update was done. The site has been the same with no extra extensions for months.
How do I fix the problem - Teitbite said it was a jquery problem and to install Easy Jquery plugin?
Should I go through and disable extensions to see which one it is ?
I do not have many extensions - I have akeeba, xmap, simple file manager, acymailing, or could it be a plugin causing the issues? How do I check them?
I just want to get this fixed as soon as possible.

I have disabled and checked the extensions I have not done with plugins. All checked OK.
What should be happening now to get this fixed.
What if I disable storefront template?
Tell me what I have to do-please so it can be fixed.

I just went to details - storefront template in the template manager and it shows this page:

403
TPL_GK_LANG_ERROR_INFO
TPL_GK_LANG_ERROR_DESC
Home Page | TPL_GK_LANG_CONTACT_WEBMASTER

The home page appears to be OK.

Might be it sounds stupid, but try to uninstall template completely.
And install again - new version downloaded from our page.

Hi

Sorry for late answer. You were keeping the conversation so with every post it gets moved to the end of the line.

From error reports looks like problem is with access to http://b-spot.com.au/index.php?tmpl=cart page where cart is being displayed and the mini cart on the site is parsing it to use. Script only sees a 403 error there.

So it looks to be a server issue with permissions. Please send me the FTP access, so I'll done some more tests before blaming server settings entirely.

Yes thenk you please let me know when they will look at it.
I just found something quite strange, I was making a couple of small csss changes after you had tried to load the template again and I found that the css files on the server are unchanged. I went to the files on the server to make a change and noticed that the change was already there, went back and checked in the same css file in the template manager and it is not changed it is the new file.
The date on all the template files on the server show last modification no later then 15april and the template has been uploaded a couple of time since then.
I dont really know what this means except that it seems wrong. So the files in the template manager are not the same files that are on the server - could this be the problem?

Sorry to double post but it was too late to edit it - just found that there are two storefront templates in the template folder. the earlier dated one and one that is marked today. The older one is _gk_storefront whilst the new one is gk_storefront. Maybe you renamed it to the _ to save any problems?

I just went with a hunch and placed a 2 in front of the older template name to see if that made a difference - it did -the cart is now working but the login is not.
Again I could not edit the last post to add this to it.

Hi

Cart was fixed by programmers yesterday. It was Admin Tools blocking access to http://b-spot.com.au/index.php?tmpl=cart . A security measure which is not necessary with this location. Nothing else were changed, no modifications were needed.

I renamed the old template to _gk_storefront than uploaded newer version with the old name. Easiest and fastest way to update template.

Thank you, for your time, persistence and patience.
So did my adding the 2 to add to the name change anything - maybe we were all doing things at the same time, it was about 24 hours from now. Here in Australia it is 11pm.
Anyway fantastic that it is fixed.
Even the update in the template update in template styles is now showing template up to date.
The login now also seems to be working so we are all systems go.
If I update again will I have the same problem?
Should I delete the old file that is now 2_gk_storefront so it causes no more problems?

Our main developer said that he fixed it, and you have to install new version of template.

Can you explain what you mean? It is working properly now why would I need to install a new version of the template. Or do you mean if I upgrade to a later version in the future I will need to install a new version of the template.
I am just a bit confused.

Right now work on current template,
and when new version will be updated it will fix it.
Just check from time to time this section:
https://www.gavick.com/index.php?filter ... Itemid=399

and when it will be available just reinstall template.
