Social Media Icons

Hi, I am having difficulty customising the Social Media Icons for the Quark Restaurant Joomla template.
Are these image icons or what exactly are they? I have tried to customise them using the guidelines below:

However, it is not finding each of the icons - is there a css style for the 'gkicon-fb' class which includes a small image file of the icon?
Maybe I am missing something here!

Hi Josh
I finally got this working - it was due to the editor not being correct.
Can you check my post about the Header images in the custom modules for the "header" position? The image doesn't seem to fade like the rest of them and also the "Quark" text and menu is grey instead of white. Can you please help me here? Thanks
