Problem when selecting the child theme

Hi there.
I have successfully uploaded the news quickstart theme to my server and run the wp setup. The site was displaying properly, but when I select the child theme, the site stops displaying posts. I(t shows only the menu bar and the WPGavern logo.
Why is this happening? I have uploaded other themes in the past with no problem.
