I would like to reduce the width of the template and add a background image. is this possible? if so, how can i go about it.

reducing width you easily only when template have such a option, if not... hardcore CSS solution are before you.

hi Oscar.
thanks for your response. i am using the magazine template. looking at the back end there is an option to reduce the max width. but in order to avoid bottom browser scrollbar, (see https://www.gavick.com/documentation/joomla-templates/customizing-joomla-template/how-to-increase-width-for-mainbody-and-bottom-position-in-template ) what are the sections or elements to override in css. for example, like what you have in the game magazine template.
