My WP installation is located in a subdirectory, but I want the site URL to be the root of the domain. I've tried to change the general settings to:
WordPress Address (URL): http://www.root.com/subdirectory
Site Address (URL): http://www.root.com
But when I do that, the images disappear from the site. If I change back to http://www.root.com/subdirectory in both fields, it all works again.
Any tips on how I can fix this?

Hi,
Please check the solution introduced here: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/ ... -site-url/
Remember about full backup first!

I did that, and everything works except some of the images. The images I uploaded as blogposts (the "My hot works" section) works, but some of the other images (which I uploaded via FTP) don't work. They have URL:s like this:
http://www.root.com/wp-content/themes/J ... ward_3.png
http://www.root.com/wp-content/themes/J ... ient_1.png
http://www.root.com/wp-content/themes/J ... mo/map.jpg
But maybe I should go into the code of the widgets and change these URL:s manually?
I mean like this:
http://www.root.com/subdirectory/wp-con ... ward_3.png
...etc.

If you uploaded image files manually, you should also change the image path manually (within the code).
