I am assuming the reason I keep getting 404 errors is because this plug-in is not installed.
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
I can see the xml file. I have also tried installing from directory but Joomla 1.5 is not recognizing the directory either.

Hi
Please install the plg_gk_news_image_1.zip file, using the PhotoSlide GK2 Component and NOT the joomla installer.
Check the HelpFile
Cheers

Plug-in is now installed, I have followed every step in the help file, numerous times. I still get a component not found error. It will render in an existing menu item, but not a new one. Very frustrated.

click photoslider.

Hi again
Mate,I don't think you read carefull the HelpFile.
There's no frontpage direct link to photoslide.
The component is only manager on administration side. On frontpage, you need to use the modules for display of group(s).
Cheers

You keep referring to the help file. If this is the 20 page pdf, I have read it at least 8 times and followed every step to the letter. This help file tells me how to install and configure the packages, it does NOT tell me how to implement in Joomla. If there is another help file, I don't have it. Clicking on help within the the component gives me yet another page not found error.

Mate
The process is very clear.
Basic steps:
- Install PhotoSlide
- Install plugin for module using PhotoSlide
- Install the module using the joomla installer
- Create your group on the PhotoSlide
- Enable module with group ID.
I don't know where the confusion!
Of course there's 20 pages in the Manual... and maybe it should more.
Feel free to ask anything.
Cheers

I followed all the instructions, but cannot get any plugins or extensions to install...
- J15, PHP5
- PhotoSlide installed successfully
- Directory permissions are all 777 green
- I have Root access on Localhost
1. I INSTALL ext or plg FROM PHOTOSLIDE COMPONENT:
Error: "Component couldn't find extension XML configuration file" etc. etc.
2. THEN, I NAVIGATE TO INSTALL DIRECTORY:
A. j15/administrator/components/com_gk2_photoslide/configuration/extensions/
B. j15/administrator/components/com_gk2_photoslide/configuration/plugins/
3. BELOW IS WHAT HAPPENS. INSTALLATION BUG???
A. /extensions/ext_rainbow/ext_rainbow/ <--- LOOK 2 DIRECTORIES
B. /plugins/plg_gk_news_image_1/plg_gk_news_image_1/ <--- LOOK 2 DIRECTORIES
4. NO PLUGINS INSTALLED (visible) IN PHOTOSLIDE COMPONENT CONTROL PANEL.
It looks like the files install but they add *double* directories and do not show up in the PhotoSlide admin.
Help? Thanks!

You are trying to upload a module inside a component as a plugin...its wrong you need to upload it from the joomla installer instead the photoslide GK2 installer

Hi,
I installed at 2 differentes site.
The fisrt at paying server and all are right.
The second with free server (Free.fr) and the plugin does not want to install. I have this error
Erreur : Impossible de changer les permissions du fichier !
Installer cann't move package with plugin to destination folder
Object id #22
I don't know if there is a possibility to install it at free.
If yes, would you explain me how?
Thanks a lot for your marvelous job.

Hi
Since it's a free host, you probably have lots of permissions denied.
So, if it's not provided this feature, it's not possible to installed using Joomla.
Try to install files manually and (most important) if you have database access (not very probably) you need to create manually tables database... You know what? Drop free hosting.
Cheers

Joomla 1.5.12 php 5.O
I have used this component for the last 8 months on both of my websites and today switched over to the newest Joomla for security issues. I then decided to change over to your Icki theme, and downloaded all of the elements for the site.
I uploaded the photoslide, through Joomla, after it didn't seem to work correctly, then went to upload the extensions and plugins via the component and this is the error I received:
Catchable fatal error: Object of class JException could not be converted to string in /home/amateur/public_html/impoundmx/libraries/joomla/application/application.php
I know this is a really simple component/module and tried 3 times to only receive this same error.
Any help would be appreciated

For ICKI Sports you should use Photoslide GK3 component - it doesn't need any additional plugins (support for Image Show and News Show Pro is built-in)
