Using newer version of JQuery library

Is it possible to change the JQuery library from version 1.12.4 to 2.2.4 without it affecting the template? We need to run an external module for credit card processing and they use version 2.2.4. Right now the module crashes with a Javascript conflict.

Please try and install Easy jQuery plugin it allows to change jQuery versions, but 1.12.x is the version which is coming with joomla itself, so replacing it with 2.2.x may cause the issues.
