Joomla Migration Boutique Theme

I am having some trouble migrating from Joomla 1.7.3 to 2.5. The auto-update feature isn't working and I am not seeing any good/straight answers on Joomla forums. I am turning to you guys for help.

This was my second website I ever made, it's outdated, it's not great, but it's in desperate need of an update. It's being hacked and the cPanel account containing this site is sending out tons of spam.

I know this isn't the right forum, and this is a Joomla issue, not a Gavick/Template issue, but I am looking for some solid advice on what to do. I have done migrations before, and I am an experienced Joomla front-end developer.

Hi, you're right J1.7 is strongly updated

I can suggest to use migration extension - which may work better than default migration tool.
Then don't forget about firewall component or plugin.
