After purchasing the template, I was expecting http://demo.gavick.com/joomla25/boutique/
The installation steps I followed was:
1) Install fresh Joomla 2.5.8.
2) Install redshop extension. No errors reported and seems to be running perfectly fine.
3) Install gk_boutique. Again, no errors reported.
4) Set default site template in Template manager to gk_boutique.
Unfortunately, what I got was:

Any ideas on what went wrong?

Hi,
first of all make sure that you have 'display_errors' option set to off in your php.ini file. And if you want to have your install as same as demo please install quickstart package. But remember that this package have joomla installer inside. Here you have info how install it https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... oomla-1-6/

Thanks. I didn't realise there was a quickstart package.
On the other hand, having to rely on display_errors being off is a very bad code smell.

When you are installing joomla you have list of conditions to correct cms woorking. Display_errors set as off is one of this rule.

I could use some help with this, too, please.
If I want my site to look just like the Demo, should I use the quickstart package even if Joomla is already installed?
I've installed the basic template, but am having trouble with the "rest" files. I thought the "rest" files would get me to the Demo appearance.

Rest_files will give you needed plugins and links to modules you need. But you don't get settings like in demo. If you have joomla already installed you have to install quickstart somewhere else (even on localhost) and set same settings in your joomla as it is in quickstart.

Thank you so much for the help.
ok. I understand about Quickstart.
How about the errors with the "rest" files? I've been looking for .xml files, but do not find them within the "rest" files. I do find an XML document (page of code).
I continue to get the error: "Jinstaller : Install: Cannot find XML setup file".
Is there something I'm missing?

Rest_files is a package which you have to unzip on your hard drive. Here you will find folders with sources, plugins etc. You don't install it using Joomla extension manager. Please read this https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... -packages/

I'm working in the Boutique rest files. I got the plugins and modules uploaded, but I'm not sure what to do with the RedShop or Source (.psd) files.
Help please.

Source files are for you if you would like to change something in graphic of our template. Redshop are files for redshop component. Here you have info how install it https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... s/redshop/
