Upgrade to latest Joomla version

Hello, my site has been getting hacked a lot lately and I really want to upgrade to the latest joomla version. What's the best way to go about doing that since my template is only 2.5. Do I absolutely have to upgrade my template? I like it as is! Thanks for the help!

TWN2 has its J3.x version so you could do that.
Just remember to backup everything before the start.
