Hello !

I would like to get my VirtueMart (VM) categories on my main menu and my subcategories as main menu subitems.

I’ve tried to create a new main menu item with a VirtueMart Menu Item Type and put my VM category on the Parameters (Component) Category ID field but it doesn’t display the subcategories on the main menu….
Do you guys have any idea about how to do it ?

Best,
Adrien

It's possible via the Joomla menu(s) however, bear in mind that you create an extra connection via Joomla to Virtuemart which will slow down the pagespeed of every menu item you add and connect from J to VM. It can give also serious problems with the webserver that the load goes up in combination with SEF Joomfish for example. It's better to use the VM module(s).

Hi!

Thanks for your answer but I’ve to admit that's not what I expected. I know that I can do it manually. Item per subcategory. I hoped there was a way to get the list of VM categories to add this list to the main menu automatically.

Thanks again.

I haven't found any solution yet otherwise it would be in use in many sites already I suppose.

Hi

I've just thought about one solution. It's possible if You are using Megamenu. You can place a module showing VM categories in subitem :)

Hi,

I’m not sure to understand what you mean by using Megamenu. Do you mean if I choosed the Megamenu type ? Because I did.

Moreover what module is able to show VM categories in subitem ?

Thanks a lot,

Hi

With megamenu You can show module position choosen in settings. So simply place there a VM category module. Not the exact solution but can een look exacly like submenus with little css work.

Hello,

Thanks to you I discovered something but that’s not what I wanted to. I would like to get all my _[1] categories on the top of my mega menu and as subitems their subcategories. Do you see what I mean?

Hi

Yes I do. Unfortunately You can make it manualy for each category or use a module in megamenu. Any other solution doesn't come to my mind. Anyway it's good to check if there is no extention to make what You want.
