How does K2 products on front page work?

How does K2 products on front page work? Can I add them to VirtueMart? I ask because I uninstalled K2 store from Joomla and they (K2 products) are not useful to me if the customer cannot purchase them. I am running Joomla 1.5.23 and VirtueMart 1.1.19.
