How to replace the cart module for another module

Hi my site is not base on VM , i want to add (in the cart position) another module like register, twitter module or any else in that part of the template (at the right top). How i replace the cart module for any other in that position? Is possible?

you will have to make a new position... search the forum on how to do that...

I need to create a new module to be located where the cart module currently is. I am struggling with "creating a new module". Can anyone help please?
