Since NO ONE has come back with solutions I've had to do my own support (what's new)

Orginally I started with the quickstart, (too buggy, too top heavy, far to slow and generally just topped up with to much unnecessary crap )
So I reloaded using, the load what you need as you go and there the answer to the problem

I forgot to load the vm_module_cart ("dam")

Which opens another can of questions
Why have K2 Store, Virtuemart in one site?
Why have K2?
Finally what the use of Typography in the editor when it takes to long to load?

johnbo... teitbite actually offered his help but for us it's imposibble to help without a link to the www..

second the quickstart is there to show what it can do.. there for also k2 mart is there... i don't know if you know what k2store?? it's a way to use the virtuemart checkout with k2 articles. therefor both need to be there...

the typo aint taking long at my end.

no one forcing you to use k2, however many people use it cause it is so much better than joomla's own article system...

we can't all have the same preferences, therefor we include these kinda stuff...

I`m still having this problem. Did i miss something?
vm_module_cart? do you mean mod_virtuemart_cart?

I have mod_virtuemart_cart loaded in position "cart" and Display Cart in Grey Box i tried both on and off.

Kimb87: when i clicked on ur link to the cart - i got the virtuemart logo and what i am guessing said 'your cart is empty'. That's OK right? Sadly you have a whole load of other errors running down the page. I've had similar experiences with this template and tools but most seem to be solved by file permission changes.

On another note: I haven't used either K2 store or virtumart but plan to in the future. i think it's good that the template shows support for both. I could only imagine using the kickstart installer as a reference somewhere else on my server rather than going deep in and editing and taking out the bits that i didn't want. This gives me a chance to test run them both before making my decision!

I don't think anyone was expected to use both, but it's nice to have the option isn't it? K2 seems so ever increasingly popular, and I have heard some bad things about virtuemart so it's quite forward thinking on Gavick's part IMHO.

Yeah, i removed the virtuemart logo now. This is a testing site, it´s not the one thats live, so still some work needed.

But the problem is that item number in cart doesnt change, it stays at 0 items no matter how many products you put in the cart.

I`ve been getting way too much errors with this template, and the ones you see on the front page I cant figure out. This is a fresh joomla installation and i`ve installed the template and the other files for virtuemart and so on.

I have imported sql dbs from the live site, with same version of joomla and same version of virtuemart (only the virtuemart tables and joomla menu, articles, contacts and users).

I also tried the quickstart package, but then it was even more errors.

I have tried virtuemart and zen cart and zen cart is the better shopping cart, but the admin pages is so messy, and its not a good way for adding images to products.

Yes, you guys are right.
It seams there some things to be fix.
The products are added on cart, but number of products don't update.
Please wait for further instructions.

Also, for those who might have some confusion about the popup cart, this is only for Virtuemart and not for K2 Store.

Hmm, when i looked at the demo it sort of seemed that maybe only virtumart items will get added to the cart at the very top, and only after visiting a new page. It might be possible to add a type of page reload function for when someone clicks 'continue shopping' but I don't know how to do that.

Don't you get a number appear when you go to a new page, or is it just not adding them at all?

You could always try to hide that number part in the css (display: hidden) could do it. It's still easy for users to access.

Good luck, CB

Not to throw darts, but the QA process for your templates I hope will improve. The products added not updating in either VM or K2 unless the page is refreshed or changed is a biggy...ooooooooopppppppppppssssssss!

I`m not using the default virtuemart theme. This was the reason why the item number in cart on my site wouldnt update at all.

Just figured that out.
Had to copy the common folder into the other theme folder aswell.

And I dont think I´m gonna use the fancy pop up "item added to cart" function anyways, so it works for me now :)

Sorry to ask in here, but i didnt want to start a new topic if anybody in here can tell me if this could be because of template:

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/daapsenq/public_html/daap/libraries/phpxmlrpc/xmlrpc.php on line 554

And many more, inside the virtuemart feautured, latest and random product modules.

Hi again

Products are updated to cart, but...the problem that i identify and will report to our programmer is this:
When some VM item is added on cart, the number of items is not automatic updated. Only updates when the page is refresh or if we navigate to a different page.

screen_2010-12-19.png

This must be fix on ../js/gk.script.js

You can try this,
Go to VirtueMart > Configuration > Site TAB > Layout > Configuration > Use Ajax to add, update or delete products from the cart? > No

It just removes the fancy stuffff

How safe is it to updating and keeping overwrite.css styles?

Replacing ../layouts/blocks/head.php works for me.

I dont know if thats all you need, but it works when adding products, without refreshing and without moving to another page, it also works in the cart when deleting products.

Anybody else got the same problem as me, there is a scroll function on the ajax popup cart?

Fixed it in ../js/gk.script.js Changed line 195 to from height:150, to height:170,

Thank you explodedk.

As a normal user might do, i whent into templates in my admin site, then i clicked download in the update tab. Maybe this should link to www.gavick.com/support/updates.html instead?

Maybe I should look more in the menu on this site, but frankly i expected when i clicked "download update" i would be given the information on the first page i come to.

Yes I agree, it wasn't very intuitive. No mention of a list, it seemed that instructions would be inside the zip.
Anyway I have updated the files and really hoping this fixes the page load issues I have been on a rant about in my other post.

If it does, that's great - but nobody mentioned updates to that in my post. i didn't really need to be involved in this thread because I'm not using the shop - was just trying to help out.

Let's hope it works, I am off to check in IE6 now.

Hello, I did re-downloaded the file and replaced the new files. However the cart is still not updating. When i click on the cart the white box pops up and lists all the items in the cart, but the number does not update. Any ideas? Oh and also because the virtuemart did not work when i installed the quickstart so i re-installed the software. Please Help.
