Sporter wont update

Hello to all,

I am using sporter quick start template J!2.5 and cannot update Joomla! through Joomla updater. When I go to Components/Joomla! update, I get this message:
" The PHP allow_url_fopen setting is disabled. This setting must be enabled for the updater to work."

The strange thing is, when I go to Site/Control Panel there is no Joomla Update button

If anyone would please try to help me to resolve this problem I would appreciate that.

It's about server settings. Please open your php.ini file and enable using allow_url_fopen option.

I did, but still is not working.... this is how my php.ini file looks like

allow_url_fopen = On

By the way, since I didnt have the php.ini file, I created one and save it under the administrator folder with using this line: allow_url_fopen = On I also tried with this line too: allow_url_fopen = 1 which should be the same thing.

Also, I tried saving the same php.ini file under the root folder, but that didnt help neither

I fixed the problem. I called GoDaddy support and they enabled the url_fopen on their end.

I'm not sure if creating php.ini make it use this file, I guess it depends from server configuration after all. Anyway I'm glad You got it working
