Search Engine Friendly URLs

For some reason the Search Engine Friendly URLs wont work when I CHANGE mod_rewrite to Yes. I have don this to other websites in the past and it works when changing the htaccess.text to .htaccess BUT for some reason it gives me error (404 page not found) when I do so on Postnote template. Any ideas?

this is not template related. i just tried with my setup on www.explode.dk and it worked great...

01. changed the htaccess.txt to .htaccess
02. site > global configuration >
Search Engine Friendly URLs Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite Yes
03. save

works like a charm...
