Remove "createdate-day" module or make it smaller

Hi there, working with postnote j.1.5.26.

This module takes a lot of place on the left. Is it possible to put a module there instead of this block?
I can remove easily the "date" from the menu item "article parameters" but it leaves the left column empty instead of shrinking it back into the main body.

I've also noticed that for the same Class module, if there's a long blog page, this module gradually go of the mainbody towards the less. That's kinda messed up, what would cause something to do that and how to fix that?

I'm having the same issues on the frontpage of the site. Iddeally I'd like to replace the large date with an image, but I'd settle for it just being gone. Any clues?
