Between k2 and Virtuemart , Once quickstart is installed

Hi,

I have not used k2 before but i understand how it works. I realise there's k2 and VM installed in the quickstart...

My question is.. Do i need both? Or was it setup to give us a choice to which one we can choose to use?

Option 1 - Just use Virtuemart
I can update the products and show them using VM and create menus showing VM products.

Option 2 - Use k2 ? How?
IF i do use k2, i will still need VM present in the system but i do not need to update the products in VM?

No you don't need both.
They are options.
Virtuemart Component is exclusively e-commerce dedicated.
K2 Component is for general content and have K2 Store add-on.

If you want to work with K2 component, i recommend you tested first and request support on K2 official forum support.
I understand that for 1th time it can be not very easy to understand how it works, but after you do some test, i'm sure you will understand easily it's structure.
