error 404 for Virtuemart component

Hi there - i did a out of box installation for "mystore template" - everything fine except the Virtuemart component.

if i go to virtumart - configuration (or any menu in virtuemart for that matter) i get an error 404

The requested URL /administrator/administrator/index.php was not found on this server.

please advise

administrator/administrator/index.php doesn't exist and shouldn't.

Try this

1. change the file corresponding to YOUR server:
administrator/components/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php


2. Search for administrator/administrator on your entire site
like: ctrl+f (find and replace on the entire site) in DreamVeaver
If you find it, delete administrator

3. Uninstall virtuemart, reinstall it

tx for the reply.

i used a "quickstart" package from an entirely fresh installation - why would this portion get "messed up".

i appreciate your fix - but it scares me to think of what i need to do to fix this.....

is there no easier way?
why did this happen?
