Blog View Columns Disappear on Mobile Template when viewed on a Phone

When viewing the template on a desktop computer you can use the Joomla basic feature of multiple columns on the section/blog view. However when you view the same page on your phone with the iPhone/hand-held template the columns disappear and the articles are listed above each other. Is there anyway to maintain columns on the iPhone/Handheld template when viewed on a phone? Maybe a slight change in the css files?
