hi

re: http://www.west5web.co.uk/

I recently installed the quickstart version of myStore. When I first installed the bundle, i was having problems accessing the virtuemart backend and was getting errors in the front end.

I checked the virtuemart forum and they advised editing the following file:

administrator/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php

as follows:

define( 'URL', 'http://www.west5web.co.uk/' );

define( 'SECUREURL', 'http://www.west5web.co.uk/' );

the urls were originally missing:

So now I can access the backend Ok and the error messages are gone. However, I now have the following problems:

1. When I click on "checkout" i get redirected to the home page rather than the checkout process.

2. When I try to "sort by" any of the variables in category view, I get redirected to the home page.

3. When i carry out a virtuemart product search, i get redirected to the home page with no search reuslts shown

Any ideas? I really don't want to have to reinstall virtuemart if possible as I have entered quite a few products.

cheers

Hi explodedk

Are you saying that I have to start again, remove the joomla and quickstart install completely and reinstall?

This will lose me a days work - is there no other way round this?

cheers

hi,
I have just landed on this topic,
and here's my 2 cent for you:
don't give public info access to your administrator like this (username and password)
explodek asked access to your site,
so i don't think he would mind that you send these info by mail
with the topic url

Hi flora

thanks for pointing this out - you are quite right, I was just in so much of a hurry this morning, I wasn't thinking straight.

Looks like explodedk at least had the sense to blank out the username and password.

thanks again

Update:

I installed quickstart version of myStore on a test domain. had to add the domain details to virtuemart.cfg.php (as detailed in other threads on this forum) switched to sef urls in the joomla config and changed the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess and carried out a couple of test purchases.

All working perfectly !!

I then proceeded to delete all the existing articles, categories and sections from the joomla backend and then all the main menu items other than the home menu item. I then noticed that the same probelsm had started again.

I then reinstated all the main menu items from the menu trash and (although the menu is now not displaying correctly) all the functionality (checkout, search and category sorting) is working fine again.

Any ideas why this is happenong.

Cheers

Hi,
1st: you're welcome

2nd: I think your problem is that you deleted the one menu item that shouldn't be deleted
the Main Virtuemart item

I struggled with a problem in my site (in the past) similar to your problem,
and I explained it in a previous post.
try it and tell me if it works with you :)
http://www.gavick.com/forum/90-mystore/ ... oduct.html

why do i think so?
because in your case too, I tried to remove the "&Itemid=1" twice (!!) from this link
http://www.west5web.co.uk/index.php?pag ... 1&Itemid=1
and it succesfully gave me this:
http://www.west5web.co.uk/index.php?pag ... directed=1

Regards :)

Hi Flora

restoring the virtuemeart link in the main menu has done the trick. Thank you so much :) The checkout process now works fine as does sorting of the categories. The only problem now is that the "virtuemart search" function is not working (still keeps defaulting to the home page with no search results) although the advanced search is working.

That's the least of my problems right now though and I'll worry about it later. Thanks again and have a brilliant day.

Hi

You're most welcome :)

now, about the search
I noticed that when you enter a search criteria when you are on the "shop" page, it works
but when you're on the "Home" page, it doesn't work

My guess is that maybe it has something to do with "show component/mainbody" on the first page (u find those settings in Template Manager)

hmmmm
I don't know

try playing with those settings a bit :)

Hi

I do not know much about VM but doesn't it have own search module? Maby the problem is to just use it on frontpage too. I think that now You have an ordinary search module to do this.

I had the problem of the VM landing on the Gavick web site, Not sure this will help but, it ended my issues. In your html directory where you have Joomla installed go to: administrator/components/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php - and edit the: "// these path and url definitions here are based on the Joomla! Configuration"
define( 'URL', 'http://yoursite.com/' );
define( 'SECUREURL', 'https://yoursite.com/' );
===
Hope this is your answer...

Hi zuicksil

Thanks but already aware of this issue. My problem was a deleted the "virtuemart" link in the main menu. All now fine.

Re the search issue, I took Teitbite's advice and am using the virtuemart search module and have removed the search element from the main virtuemart module. Fingers crossed but all now seems fine.

Thanks to all who have helped.

Cheers
