Using a different cart with my-store

What is the outline of how to use the code provided with another cart, maybe JMarket or JHShop?

Is it a matter of just replacing the queries in the modules?

I am not asking for a complete solution, just a roadmap or checklist, and maybe an estimate of how long you think it might take to do.
