Making Corporate 2 lighter and faster?

It currently takes Corporate approx 8 seconds to load on broadband. I currently only use style1.css and do not plan on using any of the others styles. Is there a way to make the site faster by removing css files and any other additional files I do not use? I also am not using jomcomments or K2 so I will uninstalling them as well. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I'm just trying to squeeze as much performance out of this puppy as possible. Thanks.

I advise to install YSlow plugin for Firefox. Run some test with this and see the tips how to make the site load faster.
