Hi

It works for thoose who want to use it, but templates are designed to use the newest technologies and IE6 is simply not fitting well in this topic. So setting IE6 to show properly in some cases can be a hard work.

Hi teitbite,
the easiest way to fix this problem is work on the ie6.css file or using an other template when the site is viewing under ie6?

Thanks,

Hi

Tamplate will display under IE6 when You remove the IE6 warning message, but probably with some glitches. Some can be fixed under IE6.css and the other may need the replacement of the diffrent modules.

Oh Man I wish I saw this before completing my clients project.

While I 100% agree IE6 sucks and is old it still makes up a decent amount of visitor traffic which can't be ignored. I see so many template clubs drop IE6 support and I was an initial supporter but to be honest I think everyone jumped the gun on this.

My client - who I just sold and launched a website built on Corporate 2 has 23% of their total web viewers using IE6. That nearly 1 out of 4 visitors that sees a big ugly white screen with text links!!!

Now I'm screwed and the client is pissed. Any template club that causes my clients to be pissed is no different than coming into our office and stealing our equipment - you are costing us money. It was my very bad judgement not to do my homework so no one to blame but me and my blind trust of good template providers.

I can safely say that I can no longer use Gavick and my 1 year developer subscription for at least a couple more years when IE6 finally dies off.

The web took a premature stance. The IE6 numbers are still too high. Especially in the US in the Midwest where some client sites still have up 45% IE6 users!

Microsoft doesn't even provide support for IE6, why would template clubs?

you could make a bit more out of the ie6.css file, but a fact is that ie6 can't do what ie7+ can...

gavick has never tried to hide the fact that it is not build for ie6... and you selling a template for a client not supporting ie6 can't be gavicks fault..

i can with almost 100% say that the top5 of joomla templates club don't support ie6 - so this is not the way to go if you clientel has a majority of ie6 users...

45% of the US and Midwest do not use IE6, here's a start to getting some accurate numbers:

Microsoft drop support for IE6, a browser released on 2001. We dropped before MS :P
It's 2010, you have freely IE7, IE8 available and IE9 is already on Beta version... and not mention Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and so on.

You have an option to enable IE6 bar notification for your users change to a more recent browser.

Our projects have techniques that are not supported by ie6 and honestly, this issue was already talk enough time. IE6 is history and was already buried.

Please don't start another discussion that will not leave to anywhere.

For curiosity, ie6 is used World Wide by 6.7% and dropping fast, naturally.
Sometimes we must push up people to see that the world is not the same.
