Relocate navigation buttons on main menu to align left

Hello there,
I know it's an old template, but since we are rebuilding our site we’re going to use it instead of the even older gk_corporate1. That site wasn’t built by me, for several small changes I’ve tried to crib into the old template but, not surprisingly, copying appeared not to be possible because of the differences between the old and newer template.

• I want to change the position of the main menu buttons to align left, see the screenshot.
I'm using the gk_corporate2 template in combination with joomla 1.7.2.
I've tried looking with Firebug and changing all the 'align's' in the files which are put to right in Notepad ++. All without success.
• The other thing I want to change is the position of the “gkPageTop/gkMain” bar. I want ‘Portal’ to be positioned above the beginning of the main menu. Is this even possible?


Any idea's?

I want to have it finished before I replace it with the old site; At the moment I'm still working with XAMPP and it's still offline.
