How to remove not use icons to speed up site? Google says it's slow!

Hi, I'm using the template world news, and checking with pinggdom I found that charge about 70 icons that do not use, such as: templates / gk_twn / images / icons / calendar.png, and many others I'm not going to use but still charge , will slow down the loading speed of the site. How can I remove them? Thanks

This icons are from typography plugin, if you don't want to use any of them in typography options find file gk_typo.css and comment all lines which includes background options.
