Anyone else experience this problem with 1.6?

I've been trying to figure out why this is happening with no luck..I'm not sure if it's a bug in 1.6 or what...but basically when I create an article and leave the default for publishing dates (which is supposed to be immediately) I get a "Pending, Not Yet Published" status...and it won't let me go in a override the system...

I have created an article and as you can see the publish date is today just a few minutes ago

But in the Article manager it shows pending...

YES - I have checked the server time an it is correct as well...I have root level access on the server and the time zone is correct too...

Any ideas?

I'm stumped...

It is a bug and apparently they are working on it....
