October 2010 new template

Any insight on the subject of the October template?

Any update? Subject of the October template?

At this moment... we can only say that is built on joomla ... and it's an opportunity to change furniture or even your home

is there and ETA for release, will it be a dark theme or light theme, jomsocial support? It would be nice to get those types of details and maybe even a sneak preview photo.
I know probably most members wouldn't mind details like those.

Well if it's about furniture it sure as heck won't have a jomsocial template.

Did it ever occur to you guys ( Meaning Gavick Staff) that just because you guys design a template for auto sales or photo galleries doesn't mean your customers use it for that defined subject.

For instance I have used MeMovie for a game, night club, car lot, community center, and god knows how many other types of sites. Although I made a jomsocial template for Memovie, Mystore, and pretty much every template you make, I still think these templates should come with a Jomsocial template all the time. These are examples of how they cross over.

any chance of releasing that jomsocial template here on the site so others who use mystore can use it or try it out.

Also is there a date set for the October template yet?

Sure you can get it, this was built on 1.8.9 I just looked at the change log for jomsocial and I don't think there where any template changes. Now I can't remember but you my have to change the css to reflect your location of moduletable_title.png but other than that it was built off the default template. So make sure you back your default template up.

An E-Commerce furniture site would be real cool. A Real Estate would be nice also.

LMAO!!! It's the first thing I noticed

we have covered the jomsocial bout a 1000 times..

this will not be a part of every template.. jomsocial update quite offen... this is a good thing for some, but not for template developers since it generates alot of extra work on fixing each time they update... if we would make it for everyone, the templates will be even more delayed cause we would have to fix jomsocial template each second week or so...

I get that there are some of you that really want JomSocial templates with every template release but it's just not practical from a Template Club point of view (which has been discussed over and over and over) and is why none of the major template clubs offer a JomSocial theme with all their releases.


So.... what are our options as members?

1. You can take the source files Gavick provides and customize a JomSocial theme yourself. Now I know a lot of you are members here because you don't have the skills to do this and that's fine, I completely understand.

2. You can pay a designer/developer to create a JomSocial theme based on the template theme. Again, I know some people just don't want to pay the extra money to have this done or don't have the money.

3. We could work together as a community to help the members that want a JomSocial theme but just don't know how. Others that create their themes on their own could share them with others. Now this is going to take effort from both sides involved, the people wanting something and the people offering help. I know I've offered help in the past and got zero response. I'm not going to just donate my time to people that aren't willing to give just a little bit of effort, I'm sorry but that's just lazy and I don't help leaches.



Now before some people complain that this should be part of the Gavick services, you need to take a deep breath and just get over that because it isn't happening - the Gavick team has said so over and over. There's no reason to argue, debate or pitch a fit (don't make me post my cry baby image)

So instead of wasting time complaining about it, lets be proactive and find some solutions for some of you that need help.

I think it depends on the template. I'm immensely grateful for the jomsocial support on the gamer template. That's a great example of a template built with a social network in mind.

Something like Postnote or Corporate II on the other hand... Who needs it.


So the argument should never be whether or not ever template should have it, because not every template would need it.


I just hope the Gavick team uses common sense, and ask of themselves 'does this style need jomsocial?'. Otherwise, I'll be there to make the case for it after the fact like I did for the gamer template.

HEHEHE Not the cry baby image!! you almost bust my side the last time you did that. I understand Gavicks position. But I'm not on that side of the fense either :>) My job as a customer is to get all I can get for as little as possible.

It takes me 45 minutes or so to make a jomsocial template out of a Gavick template. One of the reasons it's so easy is because of Gavicks use of sprites and well formed CSS. But what I don't have is Gavicks artistic vision. so wouldn't Gavick be able to do it in 30 minutes?

So if gavick supplied a visionary image of a jomsocial I wouldn't have a problem with making it and delivering it to the members for free. I'm sure Gavick has plenty of graphics in the idea bin that could be used as a splash. Gavick could even host a contest each month for the templates lacking a JS template, to enter the template has to be made public in a forum specified for Gavick Hacked Templates. (not sure of legality)

If they did so what? It has no reflection on Gavick. With the proper notice on the header of the forum and Gavick taking no responsibility or giving any expectation of support. The portion of the community that is capable of editing templates would be the focus of strife not Gavick.

Besides it would be a pool of new and unexpected ideas for future designs. Frankly speaking I take that tone as an insult, complain after you have reason to complain so just make the forum.

It is getting to be the end of the month.... are there any details about Octobers template or screen shots? A little bit of communication will go a long way with keeping everyone calm.

Word! I actually signed up to [..]. I plan on keeping Gavick if they do some more e-commerce templates, and ever get around to updated eShop *nudge*, but it's nice to have another provider on the hook. I have [..] also, so I can quickly drum up a new, stylish, template, but unless I want to spend a lot of time effing with new divs I prefer to use Gavick and [..].

I've never heard of [..], I just looked it up, I might just have to buy that. If for nothing but visualizing some ideas.

Most of the templates we use is Gavicks but we also use a lot of [..], really digging the 2nd version of T3. We also have memberships to [..], [..], [..] and use to be with [..]& [..] but haven't renewed those 2 in about 6 months.

I just built the JomSocial v2.0.0 Beta 1 template for Mystore if anyone wants it. quite a few changes in the template and css, some new features wth events and even a module.

I am in the extension club with [..], but they really pissed me off with their half-assed support. So, even though I like their templates, I couldn't bring myself to sign up with my past experience. [..] was at the top of my list because of T3, but [..] won me over with a few really novel layouts. Basically, the look like flash sites because of all the jquery and mootools they use. This is something clients want, but they also don't want to be shafted on an iPad.

They have a few really clean ecommerce, but unlike Gavick have nothing for JomSocial.

@Mongo, [..]is neat, but I just don't get much use out of it. I may design a template for a friend's wordpress or joomla site for free, that's about it. The end result with each template can be very rigid in structure and not great for 'hard to impress' clients.

But they are about to come out with a major update next month, and I'm hoping they fix somethings and add some new options.

I was with [..] about 16 months ago, I raised such a stick they offered me my money back.. I refused and was letting them havie it about their half ass finished templates, mock display modules, and lousy customer service. It got so bad they begged me to take my money back. Needless to say .. I took my money back, now there is nothing [..]has worth buying or stealing, If it ain't Gavick.. your in for Havoc.

[..] is cool as well, a little rough on the design side though. But they are inovative to say the least. Now I really dig [..], I can't wait to dig into that template and see what I can make with it.

It's never been a problem in the past. This is where I first heard of [CENSORED] and [CENSORED] . And people mention the unoriginality of [CENSORED] almost weekly. [CENSORED] is terrible, so no need to feel threatened at the mention of them.

I won't mention it again, but it may make more sense to just say, 'please don't review the competition on this board' rather than removing individual names.
