Social API in category blog

This has been requested before, but as it has been some time, I thought I'd raise it again. Are there any plans to modify the social API so that social media buttons can be displayed at the bottom of each article in a category blog layout? Or can anybody suggest how I might go about altering the layout to achieve this?

My blog page doesn't use read more links, all the articles are displayed in full on the category blog page, so the article link is redundant and, therefore, so are the social media links. Unless I can get them to display in the category blog layout they're useless.

Currently we have no plans for it, and a custom work with implementation it in the category view is beyond of our technical support.
