I recently downloaded Creativity template for Joomla 3 (gk_creativity_quickstart_J30)
I have a few things I've been searching for in the forums, some have been useful whereas others they point me to places I cannot find within the template, or some the changes/overrides I make do nothing.

Maybe the J2.5 and J3 installations are the same so J30 was merely appended to the zip file?
The layouts for editing in the back-end match those in your documentation for Joomla 2.5. Therefore one could assume that this zip file is indeed for 2.5 and not 3.3.

For example in the css files is written:

# Creativity - May Joomla! template (for Joomla 2.5)
#
# Copyright (C) 2007-2013 Gavick.com. All Rights Reserved.


I have downloaded the file again and installed it to be sure but it is the same.

I want to check his before I continue working with the template in case there is another version.

The package is fine - styles are in 90% the same for Joomla! 3 and Joomla! 2.5 that's why the file header is the same.
