Looking through webmaster tools, I'm seeing that I've had about 300 crawl errors over the last couple of days. They are all Error 403 access denied. I'm getting it on URLs like:
hxxp://www.scores.fm/football/nfl-footb ... em&id=1811
Looking at the item IDs, they are all related to a new section of the site that I recently set up to archive the historical results of the NFL Draft, so I'm thinking the problem must be something I did when creating the new section. I'm looking at it and drawing a complete blank, so I wanted to post here in case someone else can more clearly see what I did wrong. Here is what I did:
1. Set up a new K2 Category for NFL Draft, which is where I place all the K2 items related to the section.
2. Created a new Menu for NFL Draft. The menu does not appear on the site. I mostly created it because I've had problems in the past with creating items that are not linked to a menu, plus, this is how I grab the url for internal links (below).
Whenever I create content for the section I do the following:
A. Create a new item and assign it to the NFL Draft K2 category
B. Go to the NFL Draft Menu and create a new Menu Item as a K2 Item pointing to the page I just created
C. Copy the url that is given for the menu item and use it for on-site links pointing to that page
Obviously I've gone wrong with this approach. I'm not really seeing how at the moment, but thought I'd toss it out there in case someone can point out where I went wrong.
