Hello there, My website is about 15 years old. It began even before there was Joomla. Then it went through J1.5 and J2.5, now I am thinking about going up to J3.2, it had three or four different templates with frameworks from different creators. So, my question is: How big is a chanse for troubles from all this buildup? Like slowdowns or stuff like that? Other words, it's gonna be pain in .... to recreate the site from scratch, but on the other hand it might be worth it... Or not?

Hi

I would need to examine it first, but it may be more logical to create the site from scratch, since it's been so with only building it up. Of course best answer You will get when You make a copy of the site and try with an update there :) This will reveal if site will be consistent for some more time ;)

Seems like it's over with. When I am trying to update site, it won't work, because some of the modules and components are not J3-ready. Since it's J3 versions don't exist, I try to remove them, they don't go avay properly and produce error, so when I upgrade after that, I get "Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in S:\home\localhost\www\vboge\plugins\system\remember\remember.php on line 94" Googled it up - they say it's because some components won't go away the right way... Seems like the only option is to recreate the site... Some over 500 articles. Would you say I have good chances by installing your quickstart (j2.5), and then importing MySQL files through PHPMyAdmin (the tables with articles and comments) and then upgrading it to J3.2? All articles are by one author, me - no need to import users table... I am probably most concerned with keeping the number of hits to each article... )))

Hi

I'm not 100% sure, but there is an extension which updates joomla while keeping the content. There is couple of plugins for different extentions to move their contnent as well. But I haven't been using it for a long time, so You need to take a look at it Yourself: http://matware.com.ar/downloads/jupgrade.html#
