Plugin extended regex placeholder

can someone help me:

normaly i call my plugin so: {getapicontent}, but i must extend this to: {getapicontent}API_CONTENT_ID{/getapicontent}, how is this possible? I have read also Joomla Doc's, but without success...

Can You please explain what You are trying to achieve ? I do not understand.

I have u custom API from a Portal, i have written everything and if i use {getapicontent} i get all news items, but i need also one news per single page, and that should be {getapicontent}NEWS_ID_FROM_API{/getapicontent}.

Note: This is custom API from a News portal...

An example can be http://www.joomlaworks.net/extensions/f ... ge-gallery - i give only {gallery}MY_FOLDER{/gallery} and i get the gallery. But i can't understood this code...
