Hi

I have a existing 3.0 website and would like to change template. As most of the templates are set the best using quick start I would like to do this while maintaining or - somehow importing my existing menu, categories and articles into quick start. How do I do this? So far I'm sure quick start overwrite my database with sample data.

Other option is to install template only and then set it up to match detailed quick start quality setting - where would where would I find such setting :?:

Thanks for pointing the right direction

Hi, I will answer you as I always do.
On one side domain / subdomain I build the correct website. And on a separate subdomain or folder I install quickstart, so I can safe preview how everything was done. So I don't have to worry that something will be will be overwritten. Have fun.

Thanks for reply Pawel, I was hoping for some more sophisticated method - like component which exports the articles only or DB script to do this etc..... or some kind of manual explaining the particular template. Surely most people implementing new template must go through the same problem. Otherwise changing a template is almost as much trouble as building a new site! I hope somebody can point me to the right direction. Cheers

 Hi, another option would be to use extension for export - import Joomla! articles. So you would be able to grab your content without 'hard work' in database.
I'm sure that you find at least one on JED
