Removing index.php getting error

I know there are several topics on this matter but none seem to work for me.

I want to remove the index.php from the url.

What have I done?

1. I have changed the htaccess.txt to .htaccess
2. I have edited the content of one line to this: ## Options +FollowSymLinks
3. Saved it.
4. Turned on Rewrite urls.
5. Error

First of all please try without modifing the htaccess.txt file.

If it doesn't work - maybe your server have no mod_rewrite available?

the provider had to change all sorts of settings. You were right. Finished now. Thank you.
