Hey guys,

as we noticed, nearly all of your newer Templates come with K2.
So... what are the benefits of K2 for just publishing content?

Why should I use K2 instead of Joomla pages?

Hi

K2 component is free, powerful and one of top popular extension on Joomla! Community.
From our design development point of view, it's very well structure, clean and easy to work.

You can use it as blog, news presentation, reviews, products catalogue and others by creating custom templates to use on specific categories.
For example, you can create custom fields to add on k2 item, something that Joomla doesn't have.
So it's our believe that it's an "extra-point" to add on joomla global functionalities.

Also we can't forget that there's a lot of teams working with K2 on templates or extensions level.

Cheers ;)

Thanks for your reply.

I know what K2 is and what it comes with.
But I ask for myself if I should use K2 or Joomla's contents for creating new articles.

What do you think? Where should I go with K2 and where to use Joomla's content-system?

I hope, you understand what I mean...

Best regards

I understand ;)
Well if your needs are based on basic news and articles presentation, probably the most secure way is to choose Joomla! component, because of the updating development timing and so on. Also because most of the developers work on Joomla base, so probably it's more faster the updating support.

In my case i have some websites running with K2 and i don't even worry about it, because Joomla present evolution from one version to another is not so mandatory and urgent. I can wait for K2 development without any problem.

It's up to You ;)

Ehmmmm... okay. Thanks :)
I think, I will try I little bit.
Maybe I go for K2 if I want to have comments and more interactivity with visitors and Joomla for basic / static content like Imprint and something like this.

K2 provides you with a much more flexible platform. If you only need simple posting then it doesn't do anything for you. But if you like adding galleries and custom modifications to your posts/articles then there is no reason not to add it. It's free. And it does nothing but add to a joomla site.

If you are running a multipurpose or multi-user site it also adds the ability to catalog users articles and streamline your content into easier to find sections/tags/categories.
