Hi,

I am attempting to remove the "index.php" on the URL, but then get an:

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request."

Firstly, I am renaming the 'htaccess.txt' to '.htaccess' (as explained when browsing forums).
Finally, I change 'Use URL rewriting' (in the Global Configuration section) to 'Yes'.

When I then refresh either the main page or the back-end admin area, I am presented with the above message.

Can anyone help please?

Many thanks,

Pritesh

Delete joomla cache, clear your browser, rebuild your menu links.

Hi,

Thanks for your e-mail. As soon as I change the 'htaccess.txt' to '.htaccess', this is when I receive the message. This means that I cannot get into the back-end to delete joomla cache, clear my browser and rebuild my menu links.

I get the Internal Server Error message straightaway.

Not too sure if I am doing something wrong.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pritesh

Please check your email as this issue is fixed now.

For future reference , users having similar error please uncomment following line in htaccess.txt and rename the file to .htaccess before enabling URL Rewrite feature in Joomla admin.
