Hi,

I've been using various GK templates for my personal sites for years now. I really like the mobile features in the framework. With the inclusion of K2 you get a really powerfull base for a regular and mobile website. The problem I'm running into now is K2 mobile. For the latest_item I've created a mobile template for K2 which works fine when linking to it from a mobile menu. I also have a link in the menu directly to a K2 item and I can't find where I can select which K2 template to use.

It would be nice if GK would include a mobiel K2 template with the templates and that the Gavern framework would use this template when a mobile version is used. Mmm, writing this I just thought of the <gavern:mobile> tag but I'm having problems using that also as you can see in the screenshot in this topic:

Any help would be appriciated.

Hi

Can you please explain this problem to me a little better. I think. That a k2 template is to choose fOr category view.

All my K2 catagories use K2 template DESKTOP and I've also created a template MOBILE.
In my mobile menu I've created a K2 catagories item with 2 catagories selected and template set to MOBILE.
When I browse site with phone this works great.

When I create an menu item which links to 1 K2 catagory I can't select a template, this is a problem.
When I create an menu item which links to 1 K2 item I can't select a template, this is a problem.

What about the Gavern framework and the gavern:desktop and gavern:mobile tags. Well, they don't work.

As far as I can see the only way to duplicate all K2 items and catagories and use one for mobile and one for desktop but that is not the way I want to go.

Hi

I've seen a problem when gavern:mobile and gavern:desktop were not working but this was about old php version used and php update were solved it.

But Your issue is not a template related. It's all about how joomla works. You can assign a K2 template to menu item of course, but the problem is that there can be only one menu item for each category, so basicly when You create 2 than only the one with lower ID will be used, so whatever the device it will always use a K2 teplate used with lower ID.

I've been dealing with this problem adding scripts to K2 templates which were basicaly checking what device I'm currently in and hide the things I do not need. I know this is a hard way, unfortunately joomla gives no choice other than to change mobile menu structure drasticaly.

Thanks for the reply.

I should clarify a bit. I have a separate mobile and desktop menu, desktop menu has template XIPHIAS and mobile menu has template MOBILE. I thought of a work around for the single category not being able to select a template, I created a dummy category and select both and then I have the option to select my MOBILE template and set custom mobile options for number of articles etc.

After doing so I looked at my mobile home menu which is K2 LATEST ITEMS, and now I just used that option for all my mobile menu items. I do have one problem though, when reading more the default category template is used and we're back at square one.

if gavern:mobile/desktop would work there is no problem. You mention it had problems in the past? Could this be the problem in my case.

The site I'm working on is http://j25.xiphias.net

Thanks,

Hi

Like I've said the only problem about <gavern:mobile> reported on forum was that pages were showing double content because old PHP versions didn't process device selection function.

In Your case problems is comming from joomla itself. I advice to check joomla forum about that problem. Maby someone has figured somethig I can't think of.

This is all about so called "landing pages". Unfortunately such landing page can be assign only once in joomla so althou You create no landing pages at all, means You do not create pages with category/article layout, which is almost impossible or You will use the same K2 tamplate for all and than costomize one with css so it will look differently, hopefully similar to the one You've choose before.
