Newbie Nerves

I have just updated the site to 2.5
It has
- Myfolio template for all the pages
- Myfolio template has been heavily adjusted to suit
- An empty top menu item called emart that I would like to start work on which has nothing connected to it at the moment.
Am I right in assuming if I download e-sport template that I just have to upload it into my templates and choose it for my new page selection for the menu item emart?

Or will I have to do alot more...like what is this overwriting of which you speak? What if I am happy with the Myfolio template for all the categories it is designated to just the way it is. Do I have to overwrite it?

There is no extention or module or plug in on the site for commerce or shopping.
If I upload this template does it give me this automatically? or am I up for having to buy virtue mart and install it for this template to work?

Hi,

I can understand that you would like to create a new menu item to link to your shop page and you want this page to use eSport template with VirtueMart supported. If so you just need to download the template to install into your site, then in the menu item setting, set Template Style to eSport.

The template is just a template, it's not a component so it can't work as a shop cart itself but it supports to display VirtueMart pages with a more beautiful style. Therefore you will also need to install VirtueMart component.

Thanks Don Lee. Yes I have successfully uploaded virtuemart and the e-sport template. However I have two shops selling very different products on the one site will this be possible? As I notice some of the products duplicate to each shop. How can I keep them separate and also control what is sold where?
Also I would like to follow everything you guys have done in your e-sport demo I like the layout exactly but I am finding it difficult to set up exactly like you have. For instance
1- How do I get my photos to in the banner 2 position to disappear once you click on a product?
2 -What have you used for that scrolling right to left module under banner 2 displaying various products?
3 - What have you used for the ever changing 'snowboards to suit everyone' overlay
4 - why cant I get my categories to be in black like yours?
5 - Why dont I have the modules or where is log in and register?

Unfortunately I'm not a Virtuemart expert so I'm not sure on how to help you with the matter of 2 shops in one site, however I think you can create 2 categories or something to separate the 2 shops then create menu for each category, just understand that 1 category means 1 shop.

Answers for the other questions::

1. This would require customization, sorry I can't help.

2. We use News Show Pro GK4 module, you can install a quickstart of the template to see it and get demo configurations as well.

3. I don't understand the question, please clarify.

4. Use suffix class "dark" to your module.

5. Create a login module and assign it to login position. Download and install GK Register module then assign it to login position too.

3. how do I do what you have done in your demo with changing photos (in the banner 2 position I think) and changing messages in a box overlaying them and all of this closing when the user moves to another link. At present I have one photo in this position which stays there everytime any page downloads which is a drag as you have to scroll to get past it every page you look at.

Can you take a screenshot to help me understand more easily what you mean? Also you can download and install QuickStart package of the template to check demo configurations.

In the e-sport template demo-

The 5 photos that you use in your demo alternate in a loop. I think they are position Banner 2. How do I get my photos to do the same? What program/extention/plug in did you use?

These photos or this position is only visible on your first visit. If you click on a link or navigate to another link the same layour comes up with whatever info you need but this slide show has gone. How did you do that?

I have downloaded the quickstart as you suggested but I am very unsure if it uploaded to my site with the extention manager as it went for over 20 minutes and then stopped with no message at all. I didnt unzip it shouldhave I? It didnt indicate this should be done.

Also is this where I am going to find a 'Download and install GK Register module' that you recommend?
and also how do I check the demo configurations as you suggest?

Then you will have all modules installed and setted up as same as uor demo.

Hi Konrad M I had a look thank you for the link and advise but that seems like wiping out too much of the work I have already done for what Im after.
if you go to www.polomagazine.asia and click on Polo shopping in the top menu it will take you to what I have done already. I am trying to have two shops but it takes me to 'polo mart' even if I hit on 'polo boulevard' havent figured that out yet.
So as you will see there is a large photo in banner 2 position for both shops. I am trying to copy your design. But you will notice it doent close once I have navigated to a product or category etc unlik in your layout. I know you are suggesting to start again which I did try but I fear I am just uploading more junk files on top of what I already have uploaded that is working.
I just have a few more hurdles and I think my layouts will get there.
I just need to know where to find the extentions I left behind when I didnt upload the quickstart. I dont want to upload the quickstart it seems like overlaying alot of files and I have had trouble with that before so very resistant to the idea. Just would like to know what extentions I need and where I can get them. Thank you for any advice

I have started with image show and next I have downloaded newspro but neither seem to have documentation handy and Im sure life isnt meant to be this hard.
I download the template only and now I am trying to implement all the effects gavick used for e-sport demo manually. Which extention does the thumbnail slideshow I think is in top2 position?
Is there some where or someone that can guide me how to imate your layout? Im going mental trying to guess how to use these extentions. Is there documentation?
Also which extention puts the text block overlays on the large slide show?
Also how do you stop the large slide show from appearring on every page. Ideally I would like exactly how you have done it with it only on the opening page.
