I see a few posts with issues loading Gavick templates in Joomla 2.5 and I was wondering what the roadmap (If needed) to get a Gavick template working in Joomla 2.5 is? I see there is talk in bug squad related to some clubs having issues with 2.5 and have not had time to do any testing on my own yet.

To make template working with Joomla 2.5 you need to :
1. backup your working copy
2. upgrade Joomla via Joomla installer
3. download latest template version and overwrite files via ftp connection

Hi,

Is it possible to know exactly which files must be updated from the last 1.7 version of a template to the 2.5 version ?

Because when you made a lot of changes (images, html, ...) it's a huge work to simply erase and replace all the files, after you have to replace all the modified files!!!!!

Regards,

Ryo

Hi.
Yes, please take a look on this site:
Code: Select all
 https://www.gavick.com/support/updates.html

You can find there what files you need to update.

Upgrade template from version 1.7 to 2.5 demands to much changes so the safest way is overwrite all template files.

i had upgraded to the Joomla 2.5 version and i had experienced that the links were not clickable, so i tried to install the World News for j2.5 , so i uploaded the files to the /tmp folder and installed it from there.

Now i wonder if this approach was right, maybe it didn't update all files? As after the installation also i found that the links were not clickable.

So i read from another post to try to comment the #gkPopupOverlay in template.css, as i did it, the links started working.

Now i don't know how its going to effect my site. Anyways i hope a better solution arrives for this problem, any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All

The effect is that there is no dark fade when you or someone else will click on log-in for example and modal popup is appearing.

Scripts in template are fixed so you shouldn't have this kind of problem but maybe this is Image Show problem. Please update Image Show and News Show Pro to the latest available versions.

I have actually upgraded all the extensions and then i uncommented the gkPopupOverlay line, and still i was experiencing the issue where none of the links or buttons can be clicked.

So this is some other issue causing it.

Any new version of any software should not be trusted and should be treated as beta regardless. Since Joomla 1.0 I have never updated a site to the next version until at least three updates have been released. In the case of Joomla 2.5 they are experiencing growing pains with an update due out in the next few days that will probably fix your issue.

If you would care to share a link to your site someone may be able to help trouble shoot your problem more accurately than just guessing what your trouble might be…;)
