For starters this is just wrong that you would want to put your own branding on another developers work (of course that is assuming you are a developer in which case you would already know how to do this) but what you are asking to do is much more than simply replying to this post. If you are so inclined to strip out the developers details I suggest learning php because you are going to need a solid understanding of that and other coding abilities to do this. Start by learning how to build Joomla templates and then you will know exactly how to steal someones work.

Hey when you wanna suck up to the gavick team (for a job or whatever) you make sure you stay away from my posts to do so ok?

I have been a gavick paid member for a long time and I renew my account every year. For you to be so arrogant and ignorant to dare to tell me I'm stealing people's work while I'm asking questions in a forum that I paid hard earned money to post in.
The license I have allows me to to removed the Gavick copy right at the bottom of the site if I chose to do so as long as I leave them in the original files headers. My question was to know if it was ok to change my xml file to change the name of the template not to remove Gavick copyrights.

So before you stick your nose in conversations that are none of your business make sure you get your fact straight. Too bad i can't call you by the name I have for you because I have respect for other people on here.

Since you already know about the xml file then figure it out and stop acting like a child! The only reason anyone would want to change this is so they look like the big man and hide the fact that they did not create the template. If your intentions are as honorable as you claim in your reply then why is there no question ASKING if this can be done in your initial post? MY FACTS ARE STRAIGHT!

Don’t bother saying anything, I won’t indulge your arrogance by remaining subscribed to this thread. I am sure your breath is a foul and vulgar as your command of the English language.

For your information again English is my second language and by the way you don't judge a person intellect by the way they write a second language. Also I was not looking to change that in my public site it was for my development site.

A now you are talking about arrogance lol. Why did you comment on my post in the first place to tell me I'm stealing Gavick's work while I pay them to use the templates I guess that was either arrogance or ignorance. And that is still true even if you consider yourself the Shakespeare of the english language.

Let me chip in here. There are a number of reasons I can think to change the "name" of any template, including making it "branded" for the client specifically so that they see template/clientnamehere" instead of the original template name.

It's nothing to do with stealing or hiding anything, it's all about creating an integrated nicely branded solution for the client. As long as the original copyright statements remain intact in all thee files, there's nothing wrong with doing this.

The very fact that Gavick don't mind this happening should tell you something.

@earthrat - your comments were a little OTT . . . you might want to dial it down a little.

You see that too. Sometimes some people are too anxious to judge and going over the top. I hope he learns to dial it down a bit
