1.5? 1.6? 1.7? Confusing templates...

Hello,
I´ve read in some template-subforums that they are used with Joomla 1.6. I think about updating my existing website from 1.5 to 1.6 because I´d like to use the new GK-Tabs version.

But when I want to download a quickstart template I can only choose downloading a 1.5 or an 1.7 QuickInstall package. Actually I´m using a website with the financial business template and 1.5. I don´t think, my template is 1.6-ready now? When will it be?

But those template that were updated for 1.6 still have only a 1.5 or 1.7 QuickInstall-Download (Sporter for example)

Do I have to install an 1.5 QuickInstall and update joomla manually?

I´m really confused about the 3 different versions...
