What Module Controls Top Featured New?

Since standard Joomla articles will not display the date they are published (only their creation date) how do I switch the top left featured articles on the front page to K2? Alternatively, how do I get Joomla articles using this template to display the date published, rather than simply a blank "date published"?

I'm using Joomla 1.7.3 and the latest template version. My browser is Chrome.
