Module positions not working on homepage

Hi

Yesterday I downloaded the latest version of elveSocial for new site I'm working on.

The modules do not load on the homepage unless 'Show mainbody on frontpage' is turned on in the template parameters. I do not want to Show mainbody on frontpage so this is a big problem.

I have noticed some other posts about this topic but cannot see where you have answered it clearly. If many people have this problem why not fix the template and provide an update? Or do I have to download the recent update files you released on 13/09/2010 and 14/07/2010?


I did not use the quickstart package (just a new install of joomla 1.5.20 then installed the elevesocial template).


I've only spent a few hours looking at this template and I plan to do a lot of customisation work on it but there seems to be a number of issues with it due to you updating it to work with the T3 framework.

Also the user guide is completely out of date.

Please help with this issue.

Hi

If You are sure that it doesn't work without the mainbody, but You not want it. The easiest is to make it enabled and hide using css :)

the module positions are completely out of wack.. the documentation is all before they went to T3, so, not sure if they even know where the modules are.

I sent them the "menu1 to menu10" and asked "where are they?" and get the same answer you get, no response, and a copy of the outdated module map.

there is no "main menu" position on their T3, other than the "template" menu position not in "module manager"

the plug in for the menu, which is nice, nothing on it. they link to Joomlaart it looks like they just rely on someone else to figure it out.

I even tried to hire someone here to do some custom build since they see any changes as 'custom build' and will refuse to reply to the post.

in talking to a contractor here, he told me they are understaffed. that explains the lack of support here, but you do not find that out until after you pay for your template.

It's a shame that Gavick team haven't fixed this properly and we have to use a workaround/hack like this. :(

I'm a pro web designer. I have to admit I have used a few Gavick templates in the past and generally been very happy with them. I was so confident in Gavick that when my subscription ran out recently, I bought the 1yr developer subscription. Now that I am starting a new project, I downloaded elvesocial yesterday and took look at it and started to get really worried. It is clear that upgrading it to T3 was not done properly. Then I took a look at the forums and got even more worried because others had been complaining about the same issues for weeks already.

I hope Gavick Team listen to their customers and sort out the support and fix this template properly.

I'm already 1 day behind schedule because of these template issues. :(

maybe you can help me if you are familiar with these gavick templates..

I have some custom work I want done to the MeMovie. I need the slider photoshow used on Corp 2, to work in my MeMovie, its too much work to change all the color on Corp 2, but the photo show is dug in deep in the corp 2. JS, css and html knowledge is needed to make it work properly. if you think that is something you could do, let me know. and for how much.

thanks..good luck on your project, I've been in template hell for a few months now.. I wish i was only one day behind,..

I have one more question. When Gavick releases updates to the templates, do they automatically update the main template.zip file as well? If I download the current version of a template from the download area today, do I still need to download incorporate any recent Updates issued as well?

kelechi all updates are set in the packages as well.

terryr2d I know that some templates have bugs, I'm reporting all of them to the developers, but the lack of the menu1, menu2, etc positions is not one of them. This is just diffrent way of handle this.
