Date Format Bug?

Unless I missed it somewhere, I believe the date formatting is a little buggy somewhere. I entered a test string:

A-m-Y

The "A" is for the day of the week but it's showing "PM" instead. Ultimately, I need the date format to be this but having no luck:

Saturday 9, April 2011

I'm using News Show PRo GK4 (for Joomla 1.6) v1.3

Joomla! 1.6 uses other function to create a date - please check this function format: http://www.php.net/manual/pl/function.date.php
