Potential "Zoom" options for my catalogue???

Another question - please- from this newbie!

I am trying to create an income as an on-line affiliate. I had selected your Black & White template appreciating it's clean lines. I have, at GavickPro's suggestion, incorporated both News Show Pro GK4 and k2.

My dilemma is that I would like for my viewers to be able to hover and zoom directly over the catalogue items on display and not have to click to be taken away from the catalogue page they are viewing. A concern lays in the fact that the photos are not "mine" but my suppliers so resizing them, which I gather is a requirement for some plugins/extensions, becomes a wee bit of a time consuming issue especially as my catalogue could potentially prove to be quite sizeable. (BTW - Resizing everything and ALL that might potentially encompass TERRIFIES me!!!)

I feel that being able to incorporate a 'Zoom" feature on the actual catalogue page being viewed is paramount to my site's success.

Any advice/direction would be GREATLY appreciated.
