Hi Guys
Recently signed my company up to a developer license (not this account) as I was so happy with the quality of work Gavick have on offer.

A quick query, I have tried achieving this myself and no joy, maybe it is not possible. What I would like to do is have news show show a crop of an image similar to how the icki sports template looks (see attachment).

I want uniformed sized images on the homepage of my site however I do not want to have to change every image on the site so they proportionally match. Can this be achieved or am I doing some wishful thinking?

I am using GK4 and the images are K2 based.

Hi

This is done using News Show Pro GK1 version, by enable plugin support.
Unfortunately, News Show Pro GK4 version doesn't have (yet) this feature.

Anyway, returning to News Show Pro GK1, you also need to have PhotoSlide installed, create a image group on this component and this images will be used as thumbnails on News Show Pro GK1 module.

You can find more detail information on News Show Pro GK1 Helpfile.

Cheers ;)

I've tried to use a suffix to crop the images but that doesn't seem to work or is past my knowledge. So is there any css that I can apply to

.nsp_image { border:1px solid #dadada; padding:4px; }
}

that crop the images no-matter what the settings are in the module controls.

in my mind I would think:

.nsp_image { border:1px solid #dadada;
padding:4px;
width: 80px;
overflow: hidden;
position: middle;
}

but this doesn't have the desired effect.

Hi

Suffixes do not work for every position. Some are designed to display without the layer (positions like search, breadcrumb, etc)

I'm not sure if the width for image will fit the height also. It's a css problem (in IE mostly).

There is no code like:

Code: Select all
position:middle;

Hi

Still no good :)

If You want to center something than it depends what is it. You can use:

Code: Select all
text-align:center;

Code: Select all
margin:0 auto;

Code: Select all
<center></center>
in HTML

Hi !

So, with this CSS modification (center images), it works ?

Somebody can explain the method ?

We modify the CSS code, and for the module setting ?

Thanks a lot ;)

It's an Intranet Site, so impossible for me to show you directly the site ;)

But it's really simple, I want to "crop" images.

In the setting of the module, I set a size for thumbnail, for example : 200*150.

And if the format of my picture is 300*400, the module take an image area, zoom on it and crop the rest. You understand ?

An other example, if the format of image is 50*100, the module zoom on it and crop, to have 200*150.

And without stretch or black stripes on the side. No matter the size of he thumbnail set in module, the thumbnail have to be "filled".

I try the module : Raxo All Mode Pro, it do this without problem... but I have already installed News Show Pro on my website everywhere, I don't want to change of module.

Thanks a lot ;)

PS : For example on this picture, I want to fill the blank stripes by zooming and cropping images...

Hi

Sorry but this module do not have an option like this. It require adding that option in code or replace the existing with such functionality. Please see the code of Photoslide component there You will find the code for cropping from the left corner.

News Show Pro GK4 is very good module but it comes without wery important future and that is creating thumbs with croping ability. I have found that even very simple modules are having this future so I dont know whay Gavick is not implementing it. I would be even ready to pay for News Show Pro GK4 with croping availability, in that case anly the imagination is faraming the ability of the module.

I'm totally agry with you :) I can't use news show pro anymore without cropping feature.

I had to buy raxo all mode pro... And it's very good.

Sure, i could pay for gavick news show pro if it have cropping feature.

It's the only important function it's lakcking. The problem is that for a module like this, this is so important it's a complete deal breaker. For many users it's completely useless without it. That is a shames, because in every other aspect it is fantastick in my opinion.

Just wanted to keep this thread alive, image crop is a must have do to blogs having weird image sizes. I mean we have to take what we can get on some new articles and I'll be damned if I'm moving to wordpress or using JA modules just for the capability.

bump.

I was under the impression from the description of the module (and based on how the admin panel on the back end is setup) that this was a supported function.

Is it possible a patch will ever be released to allow for this functionality? Or at least a fix for the seemingly broken scaling of images when maintain aspect ratio is turned on and max width/heights are set?

Hi

I just thought it is not a bug but an additional feature, but sure I can write about it to our programmers. Unfortunately I cannot tell if this will be added if this was not the base idea of this module.

Hey teitbite good to see my php idol :>) yeh calling that feature a patch was a bad choice of words, it is in fact a added feature. But this feature has been being handed to the programmers for 2 years now.. or more actually. I can confirm this by going through my threads.

But couldn't this be done with a suffix and css? Every time I've tried I've ran into some problem, I'm sure someone knows more css than I do.

Hi

I think that all You can do with an image using css is to resize it to the selecting dimentions. The only way of cropping it is to setting it as a background and show only a part of it. It can be more complicated than an operation on the image. Let wait what programmers will say this time.

Forgot I had started this thread, would still love for this to work as I have other people whom contribute to my site they have no knowledge of graphics so image sizes are all over the place which looks tacky.

I know Land of Coders plugins do this but I don't want to switch from Gavick as it has served me so well in the past

It's a feature that should have been added long ago stutay, at times I have to use JA templates for customers when Gavick templates would have been the logical choice if it had this feature. So keep checking back..keep hope alive!!

Please be patient ;) I'm still working with the mechanism - it is a little bit complicated, because it will be a really complex feature, additionaly I'm working with the new template so I cannot work only with News Show Pro ;) In general I think that we'll release the new version of News Show Pro GK4 in the start of the next week. I've to also prepare some documentation for it ;)
