TWN with News_Pro GK4 - read more/link function

TWN template + News_Pro GK4 would be a perfect solution for what we need, and the best solution for a newspaper we have found - it's a smart,stylish, powerful combination. One big problem..the article links are not working. We dismantled the whole site installed and re-installed basic joomla 1.5,the twn template and news_pro gk4 and almost nothing else, to deal with possible conflicts and still can't get the links ( title,image, and read more) to the whole article, working as they obviously should.
Where is the problem. Is it that we are misreading instructions - a language matter, or is there is a known fault and we are wasting time and effort on this.

Could someone please help before we give up in despair and look elsewhere for a lesser solution. Has anyone else had the same problem and care to share experience of where the problem was?
